Zoom Online Meetings

For the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Waterloo Coin Society is hosting online meetings on Zoom on the second Tuesday of each month. The Zoom meeting opens up for a "Social Hour" at 6:30 p.m. and the official meeting gets underway at 7:30 p.m.

Zoom meetings will typically follow this outline:

  • 6:30 p.m. Social Hour: Chat with fellow members and guests
  • 7:30 p.m. Official Welcome
  • Attendance Draw: Guaranteed prize of $20 for either Colonial Acres Coins or Amazon.ca awarded to a random paid-up member of the Society in attendance
  • News and announcements
  • Share 'n Learn: "Show and Tell" meets Q&A. Show off something from your collection or ask a question to the club and other members
  • Main presentation: An educational presentation from a club member or special guest

Consult your Newsletter and emails from the club for details about upcoming meetings. You can also contact us on Facebook Messenger or send us an email.

W.C.S. Coffee House

Answering the overwhelming desire for more time to socialize with club members and friends, the Waterloo Coin Society is hosting a monthly gathering on Zoom with no agenda, club business or other formal activities. The Coffee House is an opportunity for you to see and chat with others, show off items from your collection, ask questions and generally socialize. The Coffee House is open on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Consult your Newsletter and emails from the club for details about upcoming Coffee House events. You can also contact us on Facebook Messenger or send us an email.

In-Person Meetings (Currently Suspended)

All meetings are scheduled to take place on the second Tuesday of each month at Wing 404 and start at 7:30pm sharp.

You will find us at the Wing 404 RCAFA Rotary Adult Center, 510 Dutton Drive (off Weber Street North between Albert Street and Parkside Drive), Waterloo, Ontario, N2L 4C6, Canada.

Each W.C.S. meeting consists of an educational segment (guest speaker, videos, displays, etc.), President's update, 50 lot auction (occasionally 100 lot auctions), dealers tables, door prizes, Pirates Treasure draw, attendance draw, Q&A and refreshments.

Contact the club secretary if you would like a randomly selected sample of our digital monthly newsletter or if you have any questions prior to visiting us for the first time.

Live Auctions (Currently Suspended)

A limited number of auction lists are available at the meetings so be sure to print off a copy and bring it with you.

Our auctions always have some unique, rare and interesting items. The auction sheets are available in PDF format below. We welcome you to come out whether you are a member or a guest. Anyone may bid in person on auction items, but only W.C.S. members are permitted to submit items for our future auctions.

Generally the lead-time to submit is 2-3 meetings with an average of five items per submitter per auction. A consignor may submit a dozen or more items, however they will be spread over a number of months at the Auction Coordinator's discretion.

A small commission based on the final sale price is paid by the consignor for any items sold at auction:

  • $14.99 or less: 25 cents
  • $15 - 24.99: $1.00
  • $25 - 34.99: $2.00
  • $35.00 or more: $3.00

The Auction Coordinator reserves the right to refuse and/or withdraw an item at his discretion. Reserve prices are based on a number of factors and sources and usually set at 50% of the market value. Contact the Auction Coordinator (Brian Faulkner) for further information or if you would like to submit items for upcoming auctions. Bidders and consignors are encouraged to review the Auction Guidelines.

Please use the Auction Consignment Form provided which you can fill out and hand in personally to Brian along with your consignments.

Can I bring family and friends to your meetings?

Absolutely, we encourage family and friends and fully believe "the more the merrier". Of course we hope you enjoy the experience so much that you give serious consideration to joining our club! Our monthly meetings are always open to the public (collectors and non-collectors) regardless of their numismatic knowledge.
