Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a "Social Hour", buying draw tickets, etc. and the official meeting gets underway at 7:30 p.m. You will find us at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in the Viewing Lounge, 400 East Ave., (just north of Ottawa St. near Hwy 7), Kitchener, Ontario, N2H 1Z6, Canada. Enter the main lobby from either the north or south doors, then head in to the Viewing Lounge located between and overlooking the Kinsmen and Kiwanis ice pads. There is tons of free parking at The Aud, but finding an open spot may be challenging on evenings when there is a major event taking place. Come early and be prepared to have to park a little further from the doors. In-person meetings will typically follow this outline:
Contact the club secretary if you would like a randomly selected sample of our digital monthly newsletter or if you have any questions prior to visiting us for the first time. Consult your Newsletter and emails from the club for details about upcoming meetings. You can also contact us on Facebook Messenger or send us an email. W.C.S. Coffee House on ZoomAnswering the overwhelming desire for more time to socialize with club members and friends, the Waterloo Coin Society is hosting a monthly gathering on Zoom. This social event will include a brief recap and highlights from the most recent monthly in-person meeting but will otherwise have no agenda, club business or other formal activities. The Coffee House is an opportunity for you to see and chat with others, show off items from your collection, ask questions and generally socialize. The Coffee House is open on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. Consult your Newsletter and emails from the club for details about upcoming Coffee House events. You can also contact us on Facebook Messenger or send us an email. Live AuctionsA limited number of auction lists are available at the meetings so be sure to print off a copy and bring it with you. Our auctions always have some unique, rare and interesting items. The auction sheets are available in PDF format below. We welcome you to come out whether you are a member or a guest. Our auctions are private meaning that only W.C.S. members are permitted to bid on items or submit items for our future auctions. But worry not! All you have to do is join the club and you can enjoy all of the benefits of membership including the ability to participate in our auctions! If you're not ready to commit to regular membership, we offer temporary memberships that allow you to bid in the auction. See the Treasurer before the auction starts to get yours. Anyone may observe the auction without the requirement of being a member. Membership is only required to bid or consign. Generally the lead-time to submit is 2-3 meetings with an average of five items per submitter per auction. A consignor may submit a dozen or more items, however they will be spread over a number of months at the Auction Coordinator's discretion. A small commission of 10% of the final sale price is paid by the consignor for any items sold at auction. The commission is capped at a maximum of $5 per lot, and the total commission paid per consignor per auction is rounded up to the nearest 25¢. The Auction Coordinator reserves the right to refuse and/or withdraw an item at his discretion. Reserve prices are based on a number of factors and sources and usually set at 50% of the market value. Contact the Auction Coordinator (Brian Faulkner) for further information or if you would like to submit items for upcoming auctions. Bidders and consignors are encouraged to review the Auction Guidelines. Please use the Auction Consignment Form provided which you can fill out and hand in personally to Brian along with your consignments. June 18, 2024 - Special Auction EventThis special event is in addition to our regular monthly meetings and consists of 120 lots of premium numismatic items. See below for the auction listing.
